The FBC Quilt Ministry was started in 1999 by a long-time church member, Barbara Martin, and several other ladies who were encouraged to quilt with her. Any quilters in our communities or those who want to learn "hand-quilting" are welcome. Regular meetings take place in the Betty Horn Building, room B106 on Tuesdays, 2:00 – 4:00 PM and Thursdays, 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
Our first objective is to give comfort and encouragement to our church members and others by giving them a lap-quilt to use as they may be in treatment, dialysis, wheel chair, rehab, nursing home, home bound or a new baby. Each quilt has a label reminding them we care and are praying for them.
Second, we enjoy the fellowship and the opportunity to group quilt each others' projects. Our greatest satisfaction, however, comes from giving away the lap-quilts we've made for others.
The third objective is for out-reach to the community. Any quilter may join our group to quilt, or to bring us a quilt-top to quilt for them for a fee, or to enter their quilt or come visit our facility for the Annual Quilt Show, beginning this year will be held on the third Saturday in October.
